Converteam to open technology centre in India
Chennai, Apr 9 (UNI) The Europe-based Converteam, a world leader in power conversion engineering, will embark on an aggressive expansion mode in India by opening a state-of-the-art technology centre.
The venue of the proposed centre, dedicated to the company's global R and D programmes, would be finalised soon.
A company release said, ''Converteam would also be investing in a manufacturing unit dedicated to Power Electronics and Drive Equipment in the country.'' The company started its Indian operations in 2005 by launching its Engineering Development Centre (EDC) here. It supported Converteam's projects worldwide at all stages, from engineering to final installation and commissioning at the customer's site.
Encouraged by the performance of the Indian economy, Converteam had opened a sales office near Gurgaon, Haryana, last year and had been making significant breakthroughs in the Indian market.
''The business volume is expected to triple by the end of 2010 and to support this growth the service activity is expected to open new offices in addition to the existing one in Kolkata,'' it added.
