Bangalore, Apr 9: Exhorting the party workers to work in unison in the coming elections, former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior Congress leader S M Krishna today opined that coming assembly elections in the state are crucial for the party and entire country is watching for it.
Calling upon the party workers to giveup differences, if any, and work together, the former Maharashtra Governor said that entire country keenly watching and performance in the May election is very crucial for the party. Claiming that Congress is the only party which can provide stable government, good governance and provide impetus to an all-round development of the state and the country, Mr Krishna urged workers to bring Congress to power in the state.
Recalling his contribution during his tenure as Chief Minister to IT and BT sector to take roots in the state which ultimately made Bangalore gain global attention, Mr Krishna said that country's earning from Corporate sector has increased to Rs 30000 crores from a mere Rs 3000 crore a few years back. "Now our attention was to provide impetus to rural sector by building necessary infrastructure and help farming sector." Calling upon the Mandya district party workers to work for the success of the April-15 state level Women Convention of the party, Mr Krishna said that women members from all over the state will congregate in large numbers. The party will also organise state level 'Farmers Rally' at Davanagere, 'Social Justice rally' at Kolar, followed by Minorities and dalits convention at Gulbarga.
While majority of the prominent leaders from Mandya district attended the meeting, Congress MP and Union Minister Ambarish was conspicuously absent.
