ANVC ultra arrested for violating CF norms

Shillong, Apr 9 (UNI) An A'chik National Volunteers' Council (ANVC) militant was arrested for violating the ceasefire agreement with the Meghalaya government, police said today.

The militant, identified as Amjad A Sangma, was arrested on Monday soon after the police recovered a 9mm pistol from his possession during random checking of vehicles at Williamnagar, the district headquarters of East Garo Hills, police said, The ANVC had entered into a tripartite ceasefire agreement with the state and the Centre on July 23, 2004. The militants are not permitted to wander themselves with arms and ammunition in public place.

Cadres of the banned outfit are housed at two designated camps at Samada and Chokpot in Garo Hills as per the agreement.
