Sirsa to be cent per cent literate district
Chandigarh, Apr 8 (UNI) Sirsa will soon be included in the cent per cent litrate districts of the country with literacy campaign, being carried out under Uttar Saksharta Samiti, showing fruitful results.
An official spokesman said under this campaign a newly literate Sarpanch in the district would be provided Rs 3 lakh as grant money for the developmental works of the village.
He said public awareness centres had been opened in more than 200 villages and literacy classes had also been started in about 237 villages of the district. Training had been provided to the 3073 Akshar Saniks.
''Any newly literate person can point out the problems of the respective village or area through his hand written -letter would be given due consideration,'' he said.
He said the objective of this campaign was to educate each and every illiterate person of the district.
