Silver eases, gold rises: Bombay Bullion Association

Mumbai, Apr 8: A mixed trend was observed in the precious metals market here today with silver declining by Rs 15 per kg on thin buying support and gold rising by Rs 55 per ten gm on fresh buying support in the opening session of trading here, Bombay Bullion Association sources said.

In the international market, both the precious metals surged and silver rose to USD 18.15/18.20 an ounce from USD 18.06/18.11 an ounce while gold edged up to USD 924.20/925.00 an ounce from USD 923.70/924.50 an ounce late in New York yesterday following a surge in crude oil, a Singapore market report said.

Following were the opening rates of spot silver and gold in the Bombay bullion market today: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 23,795 Gold (per 10 gm) 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 11,915 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 11,975.
