APSACS to adopt new approach to reduce HIV cases in AP
Hyderabad, Apr 8 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) would adopt multi-sectoral approach to reduce the HIV/AIDS cases in Andhra Pradesh, its Project Director R V Chandravadan said today.
While speaking in a meeting here about the functioning of APSACS office, Mr Chandravan said the partners should extend their cooperation to improve the 85 STI clinics in the State.
Observing that there were lots of gaps in the present system, which need to be rectified by taking appropriate steps, he said the focus of the society should be on key issues like sex workers, homo-sexuals and intravenous drug users to bring down the HIV/AIDS positive cases.
Mobile vans were introduced in HIV high prevalence districts to create access for counselling and treatment to the people living in remote areas, he added.
