Assistant Engineer in Vigilance net
Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today caught red handed an Assistant Engineer(AE) and a Sub Divisional Clerk (SDC) while demanding and accepting bribe.
A SVO spokesman said a complaint was received from a contractor Ghulam Mohammad Mir alleging that assistant engineer Sami Ullah Naik and SDC Mohammad Yousuf Bhat in the office of Block Development Office Kakpora, Pulwama, were demanding a bribe of Rs 4000 for releasing his pending bill amounting Rs one lakh pertaining to work done by him.
A case under FIR 13/2008 was registered and investigation taken up during which the officials of SVO laid a successful trap and the accused were caught red handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant in presence of independent witness.
The tainted money was first paid by the complainant to Naik who in turn passed on the money to Yousuf, from whose possession it was recovered.
