2 engineering students drowned

Jabalpur, Apr 7: Two students of the private Shri Ram Engineering College here were drowned in the Narmada river here today, police said.

Police said a group of five students had gone to the Jilhari Ghat on the Narmada river for a picnic. Garha-resident Ashutosh Prasad accidently slipped and fell into the river, while Anand Varma and Prakash Patel also jumped into the river to rescue their friend.

In his bid to save Ashutosh, Anand went into deep waters and was also drowned, while Prakash swam to safety.

Divers recovered the bodies of Ashutosh and Anand, police added.
