RTI is weapon to check corruption at various levels: Pandey
Samastipur, Apr 6 (UNI) Stressing on the importance of Right to Information(RTI) Act, Roman Magsasay Award winner Dr Sandeep Pandey today said it is a weapon to check corruption at various levels.
Speaking here at a seminar on ''Right to Information is a Right of the citizens'', he said the masses need to be made aware of their right to information to help them check corruption at different levels in our social and political system.
He maintained that the major chunk of our population are not aware of the Act and added that unless they come to know the provisions the corrupt practices would continue and become a curse to our society.
He also urged people to show interest in the act as it is their right and would eventually help in curbing the evils of the society.
People can avail important information relating to their problems from the respective departments and if the officials deny to furnish informations, they may be punished. Therefore, we should make use of it in the better intrest of the society.
