Mamata Banerjee urges rural women to challenge LF govt in Bengal

Barasat, Apr 06 (UNI) All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) supreme Mamats Banerjee today called upon the rural womenfolk to fearlessly outwit ruling CPI(M) in the ensuing panchayat elections in West Bengal.

''This will be the befitting reply to the CPI(M)'s misrule in the state, where women are continually subjected to torture,'' she said.

Addressing the Trinamool Mahila Congress Coference at Settpukur Maidan here this afternoon, Ms Banerjee criticized the Left Front government for ruling the state with terror, especially in the rural areas.

''Women from all walks of life should come out for a strong movement, so that the CPI(M) hoodlums can not rig the panchayat elections,'' she said.

She congratualted the women of Singur and Nandigram, who relentlessly continued their fight for their land.

The mammoth gathering of Women Congress delegates and members, who had assembled for the one-day conference here was addressed by Sovandeb Chatterjee, Madan Mitra, Mukul Roy, Nirmal Ghosh and conducted under the chairmanship of Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
