Labour laws should aim at welfare of workers: Professor

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 6 (UNI) Labour laws should aim at the welfare of workers and provide them better living standards, Andhra University Law Department Head Y Rajendra Prasad said.

While delivering a lecture on 'Labour Laws' at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law here, Prof Prasad said ''the labour laws should ensure real wages, job security, peaceful settlement of labour disputes and payment of compensation to the workers.'' He said before fixing the wages to workers their requirements should be considered.

He wanted the managements of industries to pay the minimum wages to the workers for the healthy growth of industries.
