Chandigarh, Apr 6 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today urged the people to join hands with health professionals to address the growing threat of climate change which has been adversely affecting public health.

Mr Hooda said that the theme of this year's World Health Day ''protecting health from climate change'' was very much relevant in contemporary times as climate change has been posing a major threat to public health. The World Health Day would focus on the need to protect health from the adverse effects of the climate change.

The Chief Minister said health professionals should deal effectively with the climate sensitive diseases such as diarrhoea, malaria and protein-energy malnutrition which causes over three million deaths globally every year.

The growing threat of global warming has to be dealt with seriously by highlighting the magnitude of the problem.
