Autorickshaws to go on indefinite strike from Apr 21

Thane, Apr 6 (UNI) More than eight lakh autorickshaws in Mumbai, Raigad district and this district will go on an indefinite strike from midnight of April 21, to press for their long-pending demands.

This was informed to newsmen by president of the Rickshaw Unions Federation Prakash Penkar after the Federation's meeting here today.

Representatives of all the rickshaw union attended the meeting, irrespective of their party affilitation, where their issues were disscussed at length.

Their demands include not to permit the six seater rickshaws, not to allow the inter-jurisdiction movement of rickshaw (Mumbai to Thane), compulsion of electronic meters, and rise in fares as the prices of diesel and other things have gone up.

Sudha Chavan, one of the senior office-bearers of the federation and coordinator for the agitation was also present.
