Two arrested, arms seized in attempt to murder case
Ariyalur, Apr 5 (UNI) Police have arrested two more persons and seized a countrymade gun here yesterday in connection with the reported attempt made by a group on the life of the President of Ponparappi village P R Pandian recently.
Police said that in a pre-dawn operation, they nabbed Tamilvannan (43) from the cashew forest near Unjini village and Kasinathan of Koppiliyankudikadu, to whom the former had given the weapon. So far, eleven people have been arrested in two combing operations and one person had surrendered a few days ago in the case, police said, adding that all of them were remanded to judicial custody.
It may be recalled that the Senthurai police, who had registered a case of attempt to murder on March 27, had arrested five people and seized a countrymade bomb, 400 gm gunpowder, 18 empty cartridges, 40 match boxes, 100 gm cycle iron balls and ten safety fuse wires. On March 31, another accused had surrendered.
Police said they had tracked four more accused earlier this week and took possession of a motorcycle without number plate, three sickles and seven countrymade bombs kept concealed at Keelarayapuram, on Thursday.
