Two accused rapists produced in CJM court
Siliguri, Apr 05 (UNI) Two persons, arrested last night for raping a 19-year-old girl on the Delhi-Alipurduar Mahananda Link Express on Thursday evening, were produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court here today.
Deputy Superintendent of Railway Police R N Gurung said Shalin Bhagat was among the four persons, who were detained yesterday, and Hari Chettri was nabbed from his house at Bagrakot under Malbazar Police Station following joint raids by GRPF and local police.
He also said Chettri attacked one assistant sub-inspector and bit off a piece of flesh from the thighs of a constable.
The ASI sustained head injuries while the constable was rushed to a hospital.
The duo have admitted to their crime, police said adding that Chettri was a notorious criminal and was involved in dacoity and rape.
''We are interrogating the arrested and hope that the other person will be arrested soon,''he said.
The miscreants were detained for gangraping a teenager in front of others in the general compartment of Mahanda Link Express. The train was coming from New Delhi to Alipurduar in North Bengal.
The miscreants boarded the train in New Jalpaiguri and started robbing the passengers before raping the victim.
