Snow in HP, rain in Punjab, Haryana
Chandigarh, Apr 5 (UNI) High altitude areas in Himachal Pradesh experienced another spell of snowfall while lower areas of the state and plains of Punjab and Haryana had rain overnight.
However, the mercury rose in many areas of northwest India today but hovered two degrees to 12 degrees Celsius below normal.
The maximum temperature, which had dipped yesterday, marginally increased in Punjab and Haryana today.
In Punjab, moderate rain lashed Amritsar flooding low lying areas and busy roads. The holy city measured 8.0 mm rainfall till this morning. Ludhiana and Patiala were also lashed by rainfall.
Rains also lashed Haryana where the mercury hovered 12 degrees below normal at Narnaul. Rohtak, Bhiwani, Hissar, Karnal and Ambala also had rainfall last night.
High altitude areas of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh experienced another spell of snowfall while mid and lower areas of the state were lashed by rain dipping the temperatures.
The 13050-foot high Rohtang Pass, gateway to tribal Lahaul Spiti district, and Dhauladhar ranges, facing the Kangra valley, also had moderate snowfall.
