Reliance faces CPI protest
Tirupati, Apr 5 (UNI) As many as 500 CPI activists today staged a demonstration infront of the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) demanding closure of the newly-opened Reliance Hiper Market in this town.
Talking to newspersons here, CPI State Secretary K Narayana urged the government to cancel the license of the hiper market.
He alleged that the opening of the hiper market badly affected the small and medium traders and local vegetable vendors.
Opening of more hiper markets in the state would bring 90 per cent job losses in the retail sector, he alleged, adding that it would create only ten per cent employment.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the RDO.
