Primary school teachers to stage 'dharna'
Tiruchirapalli, Apr 5 (UNI) Over 40,000 members of the Tamil Nadu Elementary School Teachers Federation will stage a state-wide 'dharna' in 400 places in the state on April 10 to draw the state government's attention to their long-pending demands.
Federation state secretary S Anbazhagan told newspersons here today that the 'dharna' would demand that the government ensure 1:30 teacher-student ratio, give up contributory pension scheme and reintroduce the old pension scheme.
He also said the 'dharna' was also protest against the appointment of senior IAS officer Vijayakumar as the Director-Incharge of Elementary Education and demanded that such posts should be filled up only by those having an experience in educational field.
