Over 300 'Jaya Karnataka' workers arrested

Hogenakkal, Apr 5 (UNI) More than 300 'Jaya Karnataka' activists were arrested by police when they tried to lay a siege on the disputed land here today.

The activists led by former underworld don Muthappa Rai, which took out a vehicle 'jatha' from Bangalore yesterday after reaching here, marched to the disputed land to hoist a Kannada flag when they were prevented by the police and taken away in vans to Male Mahadeshwara police station.

Tension prevailed for sometime as protesters, led by their Working President Rajesh Gowda were involved in a verbal duel with the police when they were prevented from proceeding towards the water project site.

However, police removed them taking the arrested to the police station.

Some of the activists sat on the road to stop the police van carrying the arrested workers.
