NEMF urges PM to provide adequate security to journalists
New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) The North East Media Forum (NEMF) has urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to ensure safety and security of newspersons working in the North Eastern region in the wake of recent killings of a number of newspersons in the region.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, they pointed out that time and again journalists working in that region had been targetted fot fearlessly and truthfully carrying out their duties.
The letter said, if adequate protection was not provided to the journalists working in that region, it would be difficult to highlight the activities and write against various militant outfits operating in the region who were working against national interests, the letter added.
The NEMF is an association of North East newspersons.
