Jagjivan Ram's grand daughter supports Mayawati's demand

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) Ms Medhavi Jagjivan Ram, former Haryana Minister and granddaughter of Dalit leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, today came out in support of another Dalit leader Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, endorsing her demand for SPG cover.

Paying tribute to late Jagjivan Ram on the occasion of his 101st birth anniversary, Ms Medhavi said dalit leaders who had been working for the uplift of their community had not been recognised in the manner they deserved.

Ms Mayawati had made ''immense contribution to the nation'' and her demand for SPG cover should be accepted by the Centre, in view of the threat to her life, said Ms Medhavi who has launched the 'Babu Jagjivan Ram Baba Saheb Ambedkar Congress' last year.

She also demanded more free education facilities for girls and boys belonging to Dalit and other weaker sections, saying it would be a great tribute to the memory of Babu Jagjivan Ram, on the occasion of his 101st birth anniversary.
