Congress to launch election campaign from Davanagere
Bangalore, Apr 5 (UNI) The Congress in Karnataka will launch its election campaign from Davanagere on April 13 for the three-phase Assembly polls in May by holding a massive Farmers rally.
Informing this to newspersons here today, Election Campaign Committee chairman Siddaramaiah said the party would mobilise over two lakh farmers for the rally to thank the Centre for waiving farm loans to the tune of Rs 60,000 crore.
The rally would be addressed by party leader S M Krishna, KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh, former Railway Minister C K Jaffer Sharief, among others, he said.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said the party would also organise a Religious Minorities rally in Gulbarga on April 19, Social Justice rally at Kolar on April 17 and a state-level Women's Convention at Mandya on April 15.
In all the conventions the party would hear the problems being faced by farmers and minorities and strive to find out solutions once the Congress comes back to power in the state, he added.
