Central team to visit flood afffected areas in TN
Chennai, Apr 5 (UNI) A four-member Central team, headed by Union Home Department Joint Secretary Dharmendra Sharma, will arrive here tonight to visit the flood affected areas in Tamil Nadu from tomorrow.
The other members of the team are: Mr Dheenanath, Dr K Manoharan and M J Jayachandran, an official release said here today.
The team would visit the flood affected areas till April eight and hold a meeting with State Revenue Minister I Periyasamy and higher officials on April nine and leave for Delhi on the same day.
The team would visit Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur tomorrow and Thanjavur the next day. Later, the team would go to Tiruchirapalli and hold discussion with the district collector about the extent of damage caused by the recent rains.
From Tiruchirapalli, the team would reach Tuticorin by a helicopter to analyse the damage.
On April eight, the team would visit Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts before holding discussions with Madurai collector at Madurai on the same day. The team would reach on Chennai on April nine and hold consultations with State Revenue Minister at the State Secretariat.
The Centre had deputed the team following a detailed report sent by the state to the Union Governmnent on the extent of damages caused during the last month's rains and seeking Central assistance.
