Biman calls for launching a concerted movement against inflation
Kolkata, Apr 5 (UNI) Left Front Chairman Biman Bose today said the Front would launch a strong ''Sarab'' (Vocal) campaign throughout the state from April ten to protest the price rise of essentials.
Addressing news persons after a Front meeting here this evening, Mr Bose said it would also urge the Left MPs to exert pressure on the UPA Government at the Centre to contain inflation when the Lok Sabha session starts on April 15.
Mr Bose expressed concern that the one per cent rise of inflation would have a cascading impact on the price index and said the prices of some commodities might also increase.
He said the Essential Commodities Act, implemented by the NDA Government, had several loose ends and it would never be able to contain blackmarketing.
The Centre should take immediate measures against the blackmarketeers taking advantage of this Act, he stated.
The Front had already distributed the election manifesto for the coming Panchayat election to his alliance partners and it would take final decision in this regard on April eight after having another Front meeting, he informed and said the election manifesto would be released after that.
He made it clear that if any problem arose over seat sharing, it would be sorted out bilaterally.
On the present political situation in the country, he said all the alliance of the ruling Front would launch a mass movement to reach the desiered result.
