Puducherry: AFT workers to launch demonstrations
Puducherry, Apr 5: Workers of the government-owned Anglo-French Textile (AFT) Mills today threatened to launch demonstrations infront of residences of Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Labour Minister E Valsaraj and Industries Minister V Vaithilingam if the administration failed to fulfill their demands in a couple of days.
Addressing a press conference here, AFT Integrated Workers Association Convenor Vazhumuni said the workers would also resort to a state-wide bandh if the government turned a deaf ear to their demands. He said while 4,00 employees were provided with central dearness allowance and a salary between Rs 14,000 and 20,000, the remaining 2,600 were victimised and provided a salary between Rs 6,500 and 8,000.
Though the wage disparity existed for the past 11 years, no action was taken to remove it, he added.
