Wildlife wonder! Female pheasant turns male

Lucknow, Apr 4 (UNI) In a rare incident, a 20-year-old female Silver Pheasant has turned male in a natural process, leaving wildlife lovers astonished.

The bizarre incident took place at the Lucknow zoological park.

''The bird, originally hailing from China, had been changing its colour since the last two years, but scant attention was paid towards it,'' Zoological Director Renu Singh told UNI here today.

The Silver Pheasant was kept with its male counterparts for cross-breeding. Later, it was discovered that the bird had changed its sex, she informed.

The change in harmones caused male symptoms in the bird, she added.
