UPA failed to check growing naxal, terrorist activities: BJP

Hyderabad, Apr 4 (UNI) BJP national spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy today alleged that the UPA government had failed to check the growing naxal and terrorist activities in the country.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Rudy said ''the terrorist attacks have increased in the country since the POTA was repealed.

The maoist activities in the country pose a threat to the development of the nation.'' Stating that terrorist infiltration had increased manifold after the UPA came to power, he said heavy influx of Bangladeshis in states like Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur and Bihar was changing the country's demography.

The BJP would take up terrorism, infiltration, deteriorating internal security, farmers distress and inflation as the main plank in the coming general elections, he said.

''The Left parties are enjoying power without any accountability.

They are also responsible for the rise in prices of essential commodities,'' he said.

Referring to Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, he alleged that the UPA had compelled Ms Nasreen to flee the country under pressure from certain fundamentalists.
