Rs 5524 cr collected as VAT in MP

Bhopal, Apr 4 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has collected Rs 5524.30 crore as Value Added Tax during 2007-08, an increase of Rs 760.97 crore increase over the previous year.

The Commercial Tax department's total revenue collection during the last financial year accounted for Rs 7136.97 crore, about 14 percent (Rs 894 crore) more than the previous year's collection.

According to Commercial Tax Commissioner P K Das, the state collected Rs 524.87 crore as Central Sales Tax, Rs 898.94 crore as Entry Tax, Rs 181.13 crore as Professional Tax and Rs 7.71 crore as Hotel Tax during 2007-08.
