Reckitt Benckiser relaunches Clearasil

Ahmedabad, Apr 4 (UNI) In a move to strengthen its presence in the personal care segment in the Indian market, Reckitt Benckiser India Limited (RBIL) announced the relaunch of ''Clearasil''- a brand it acquired through its global acquisition of Boots Healthcare International (BHI).

RBIL Chairman and Managing Director Chander Mohan Sethi said, ''Following the global acquisition of Boots Healthcare, our major focus has been to successfully integrate BHI Power Brands (Clearasil and Strepsils) in India and put together in place the required distribution strength while gradually preparing for the business to grow.'' Talking about the rollout of new Clearasil, Mr Sethi said, ''We are committed towards providing the right mix of ingredients for the growth of this brand, including making significant investments behind the brand. Clearasil will not only give a major thrust to our portfolio, it will also help us in strengthening our position in the Personal Care segment.'' RBIL acquired three power brands from Boots namely - Strepsils, Clearasil and Sweetex in end of 2006. These multi-crore brands were being marketed and sold by Boots Piramal Joint Venture till September 2006. Another power brand from BHI - Nurofen in analgesics has been added to Reckitt Benckiser international portfolio. Nurofen is currently not available in India.

Clearasil as a brand has historically been a favourite among the Indian youth to overcome issues related to pimples. The Company is now introducing a completely new range of Clearasil, including creams, face wash and soap. All products in the new Clearasil range have new, highly effective formulae developed by Reckitt Benckiser's global research and development team. The product will be released in a brand new packaging developed to meet global standards.
