India, Germany to conduct joint navy exercise

New Delhi, Apr 4: For the first time, India and Germany will undertake a joint navy exercise from April 8 to take forward the defence cooperation between the two countries.

The German Navy will visit the Port of Kochi and Southern Naval Command from April 5 to 8. The visit comes in the wake of the Indo-German defence cooperation agreement signed between the two nations in 2006.Three German warships -- F220 Hamburg and F211 Koln (both missile Frigates) and A1411 Berlin (a Naval support vessel) -- will visit India for the bilateral exercise. Germany's Ambassador to India Bernd Mutzelburg, Rear Admiral Bollow (FO Commanding 2nd Flottia) and Capt M Budde (Commander Task Group 501-1) will also address the media on the occasion.
