Cong MLA demands action in Regal Talkies case

Indore, Apr 4: Congress legislator Premchand Guddu today demanded that strict action be taken against corrupt officials involved in providing lease for land worth several crores to Regal Talkie of Indore.

In a statement issued here, Mr Guddu said the government had cancelled the lease in 1980 and ordered the Municipal Corporation to seize the land within 15 days. However, the land was not released and a conspiracy hatched to hand over land to a big industrial house.''In 2000, the then Municipal Commissioner and an engineer suppressed the order in this regard and renewed the lease from November 2000 to 2018 using wrong means,'' he claimed.

Pointing out that he had raised the issue several times in the Vidhan Sabha creating pressure, he said the Municipal Corporation seized the land on April 2.

He demanded that guilty officials be suspended and strict action be taken against them under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The loss caused to the government should be compensated, he added.
