CM lays foundation stone for 'Off-Shore Reservoir' project
Srikakulam, Apr 4 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today laid the foundation stone for the Rs 127 crore 'Off-Shore Reservoir' project on river Mahendra Tanaya at Regulapadu village in Palasa mandal of this district.
Addressing a public meeting here, the Chief Minister said the project would provide irrigation to 24,600 acres of land spread across 100 villages.
Around 62.5 lakh acres of land had so far been brought under irrigation in the district, he added.
He also said his government was fully committed to improve the living standards and conditions of the people by eliminating drought situation in the state permanently.
The Chief Minister also assured that the 'Madduvalasa Reservoir' project would also begin at the earliest.
Later, Mr Reddy distributed ''Pattas'' to the beneficiaries of the 'Indiramma' Housing Scheme in the district.
