Gulbarga, Apr 4 (UNI) AICC Observer K Kesava Rao was today flooded with applications from aspirants wanting to contest on Congress ticket in the coming election to Karnataka Assembly here today.

Chaotic situation prevailed as large number of supporters of local leaders thronged to the venue, where Mr Rao, the former President of Andhra Pradesh unit, arrived for holding consultations.

Addressing the party workers, he asked the local leaders and activists to keep in mind that neighbouring AP was going to polls next year and party's victory in the state was very important.

He said that he had come to asses the capabilities and commitment level of the ticket aspirants and he would convey the same to the high command.

He said the party would not discriminate between 'old and new' leaders in the party and appealed all to strive for the victory of the party.

Later addressing a press conference, Mr Rao however felt that the election results of Karnataka would not show any influence on Andhra Pradesh which is going to polls next year. "The political scenario is different there," he said.

He explained that the congress party would give priority in allocating tickets to youth and women.
