Advocates join protests over opposition to Hoganekkal project
Chennai, Apr 4 (UNI) The legal fraternity, especially advocates in all the courts here stayed away from work and expressed their protest against the attacks on cinema halls showing Tamil films and 'Tamil Sangham' office and Karnataka's opposition to the proposed Hogenakkal drinking water project to be taken up by Tamil Nadu, today.
In Madras High Court complex, about 100 advocates took out a procession and raised hostile slogans in Tamil, ''Kannadigar ozhiga'' (''down with Kannadigas'') and ''we will wrest Bangalore city''.
The judges, however, remained in their chambers.
The functioning of the City Civil and other courts was also affected with the advocates joining the protest.
The protests were organised under the auspices of Tamil Nadu Bar Association(TNBA) and Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA).
