Wrong decisions of previous government could be reviewed:Dhumal

Shimla, Apr 3 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today asserted that his government had the right to review the wrong decisions of the previous government and said whose who were now raking up the issue in the press were fearing about their wrong decisions.

Replying to a supplementary by former chief minister Virbhadra Singh during Question Hour in the Assembly, he said the state government had the constitutional right to review all wrong decisions of the previous government, which in its tenure reviewed several of the previous BJP Government's decisions.

Mr Dhumal said the former chief minister soon after coming to power in March 2003 had declared to fill all vacant posts in the state in the next six months and then went ahead and cancelled several of its notifications regarding setting up of schools, colleges and health institutions.

''There cannot be two set of rules for different parties,'' he said.

He said the previous government soon after coming to power cancelled the notifications of Shahpur, Sandhol and Rajgir Colleges, besides several schools and health institutions.

''The present government has only reviewed those decisions of the government that are wrong and anti-constitutional.'' The Chief Minister said during its ternure the previous Congress government neither appointed new staff nor created necessary infrastructure to provide training to the trained nurses.

''If there are large number of vacancies in health and education departments, the previous state government is to be blamed,'' he added.

Earlier, former chief minister Virbhadra Singh asked the government to clarify as to why the sanctioned posts of trained nurses, para-medical staff and doctors were first cancelled and notified again.

Besides, he also wanted to know as to how many such posts in other departments were first cancelled and then notified again.

Replying to the main question by Rikhi Ram Kaundal (BJP), state Health Minister Rajiv Bindal rptg Rajiv Bindal said 64 posts of ward sisters and 439 staff nurses were laying vacant in Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) and Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH) as of now.

This, he said, was because the previous government had filled up eight posts of ward sisters in 2006 and one in 2007 and three posts of staff nurses in 2005, 25 posts in 2006 and three in 2007.
