RSP registers all time best performance during 2007-08

Bhubaneswar, Apr 3 (UNI) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved all time best performance in production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel during 2007-08.

RSP sources said here today that the steel plant consistently operated the Blast Furnace, Steel Melting Shops and the Finishing Mills at more than 100 per cent of its rated capacity.

The plant achieved 114 per cent capacity utilisation in the Blast Furnaces, 110 per cent in Steel Melting Shops and a phenomenal 124 per cent in the Saleable Steel area with many of the finishing mills performing at incredible levels of rated capacity.

The performance almost matched with the 2006-07 performance, when for the first time the RSP achieved its rated capacity.

With the current year performance, the RSP managed to fulfill the commitment to the Annual Performance Plan formulated at the SAIL Corporate level, the sources said.
