Seven held for man's death in Nashik

Nashik, Apr 3: The police today registered a case of murder against seven persons for allegedly murdering a 45-year-old man for non-payment of borrowed money here. According to the police, a case has been registered under sections 302, 452, 363 of the Indian Panal Code (IPC) and sections 32(B), 33 of the Mumbai Moneylenders Act against the accused -- Chandabai Sasane, Taslim Shaikh, Taskim Shaikh, Azhar Sayyad, Jafer Shaikh, Mayur Sesane and Meerabai.

According to the complaint, filed by Chhaya Prabhakar Bhalerao (39), wife of deceased Prabhakar Shivram Bhalerao (45), the 7 persons entered their house on April 1, with the aim to recover the money given to her husband. He had borrowed Rs 20,000 from Chandabai at the interest rate of 15 per cent. The victim had also signed five blank cheques and a stamp paper about 7-8 months back.

The assailants allegedly abused and beat Prabhakar in a car and then threw him in a well at Donde Mala in Pathardi area of the city on Tuesday. The whole episode was witness by Prabhakar's sister-in-law Sunita Bhalerao and her mother, who admitted him in a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday.

The Nashik Road police are investigating the matter. No arrests have been made in this connection.
