No case of suspected avian influenza in humans till Mar 27: report
New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) The Animal Husbandary Department of West Bengal government has identified no fresh case of human avian influenza in Jalpaiguri district till March 27.
According to an official release issued here today, the department carried out house-to-house surveillance within 0-3 km area in Jalpaiguri, covering about 29,253 people. Eleven cases of fever/URI had been identified in the community, but none had exposure to avian influenza.
In 3-10 km area, which covers a population of 97395, 116 cases of fever/URI had been identified. None was affected by bird flu.
In Malda district, the department had identified three cases of fever/URI in a population of 21872 within an area of 0-3 km.
All the three cases were free of avian influenza.
''There is no case of suspected human avian influenza and the situation is being monitored,'' the release added.
