Medha Patkar to receive Krantiveer award
Ujjain, MP, apr 3 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar would be honoured with the 'Rashtriya Krantiveer Award 2008' at a programme to be held near holy Kshipra river here tomorrow.
The award is given in the memory of veteran freedom fighter and social activist Ramchandra Raghuvanshi 'Kakaji'.
Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Paras Jain would be special guest on the occasion.
In a release issued here today, organising committee head Omprakash Khatri and Dr Prakash Raghuvanshi said the award was instituted in 1998. Last year, the award was bestowed on first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi.
