Hearing in Bipin Bihari suspension case adjourned to Apr 16

Mumbai, Apr 3 (UNI) Hearing of the petition challenging the suspension of 13 police officers, including IPS officer Bipin Bihari, who allegedly framed a builder and developer in a false case, has been adjourned till April 16.

The petioners had moved an application on March 25 demanding certified copy of the CID report based upon which the police officers were suspended.

The court had admitted the application and then adjourned the matter till today. However, in the absence of the metropolitan magistrate today, the matter was further adjourned till April 16.

Earlier, the court had issued summons to investigating officer Kumar Sawant to appear in the court for recording his statement.

The police had allegedly registered a false case against builder Rajendra Chaturvedi in February last year, accusing him of hatching a conspiracy to eliminate business rival Rashmikant Shah.

According to the police, there was rivalry between the two builders over a Rs 500-crore redevelopment project at Abhyudaya Nagar at Kalachowkie here. The frame-up was the outcome of this.

On a tip-off, four persons were arrested on February 25, last year -- Nisar Shaikh, Aslam Khan, Qasim Qureishi and Vijay Warkar. The police is now looking for prime accused Baba Udaynath Maharaj and his accomplice, Bismillah Khan.

Besides Bihari, the other police officials who have been suspended include 'encounter specialist' Jagdish Sahil, senior inspector Pradip Shinde and Vijay Dhatrak.
