HC refuses to cancel bail of MP's private secretary
Chennai, Apr 3 (UNI) The Madras High Court today dismissed a petition, filed by the Annamalai Nagar police to cancel the anticipatory bail of Rajendran, a private secretary to Mr M A M Ramaswamy, MP, and pro-chancellor of the Annamalai University, in a murder case.
Dismissing the petition, the High Court said there was no merit or proper reason to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to Rajendran by a lower court.
Rajendran, along with two others is arraigned as the prime accused in the murder case. As per the FIR, one Sivasamy, an employee of the varsity, was murdered by a gang inside the campus on January 30 last at the instigation of Rajendran.
Later, Rajendran had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Cuddalore Sessions Court and the same was granted on condition.
The police then filed an appeal in the High Court, submitting that after obtaining the bail, Rajendran was threatening wife of the deceased and her brother to withdraw the complaint.
