BJP to contest all 712 seats in Zilla Parishad : Rahul
Kolkata, Apr 3 (UNI) Bengal BJP state secretary Rahul Sinha today said it was ready to form an alliance with any political parties, except the CPI(M), for the coming Panchayat election.
" No alliances have been made for the Zilla Parishad, so we have decided to contest all the 712 seats alone. However, we are expecting some alliance for the gram panchayat and panchayat samity seats at the lower level. The party would ask its candidates to file nominations in gram panchayat and panchayat samity seats for which alliances would not be held," Mr Sinha told newspersons here.
Mr Sinha demanded that Panchayat election should be held on a single day instead of three days and more central para military forces should be deployed for conducting free and fair polls.
He said the party's state committee meeting would be held on April four and five at Haryana Bhavan where central leaders, including Mr Ramlal and Mr Hridaynath Singh, would be present.
This is an important meeting before the Panchayat poll as steep price hike and Panchayat poll strategy would be discussed, he added.
He said, the BJP would launch a massive signature campaign drive on April seven against the price hike and later send it to the President for taking necessary steps in this regard.
