4 female teachers killed,12 injured in jeep-truck collision
Panchkula, Apr 3 (UNI) Four women teachers were killed and 12 others injured, four seriously, when a jeep in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Nada Saheb Gurdwara, near here today.
According to police, two of the teachers died on the spot in the accident in which their jeep was so badly mangled that some of the injured could be extricated only after cutting through the vehicle.
The 13 injured teachers and the driver of the jeep were rushed to civil hospital here.
However, six of the teachers who were in serious condition were referred to PGI in adjoining Chandigarh, where two of them succumbed to their injuries.
The accident occurred in the morning when the teachers belonging to various schools of Panchkula were on their way to Raipurani.
The deceased teachers have been identified as Mukta Sharma, Sunita Sharma, Usha and Santosh.
According to the police, the condition of the other four teachers admitted in PGI was stated to be serious.
The police has registered a case.
