Sports stadium construction under progress

Perambalur, Apr 2: Construction of a sports stadium at the Collectorate here taken up at a cost of Rs 58 lakh will be completed soon, according to an official press release here today.

The release said of the total Rs 58 lakh budget for the standium, Rs 36 lakh was made through public contributions.

The construction of gallery and rooms for sportspersons has been completed at a cost of Rs 30.5 lakh while the work on 400 metre athletic track at Rs 5 lakh, volleyball court (Rs 50,000), basketball court (Rs 7 lakh) and compound wall (Rs 11 lakh) would begin soon.

Kattida Maiyam would lay the 400 m track and set up the volleyball court, the basketball court and the compound wall would be undertaken by the Perambalur panchayat union.

Effective steps have been initiated for completing all the works soon, the release said adding efforts would be made to lay a link road connecting the stadium at a cost of Rs 3 lakh.
