Mizoram Assembly Budget Session ends

Aizawl, Apr 02 (UNI) The last Budget Session of the present ministry concluded today, with all the 12 Bills proposed being passed by the fifth Mizoram Legislative Assembly.

The Assembly Secretariat said the Session saw the largest number of questions in the history of the Assembly.

The 15-day 12th Budget Session admitted all the 12 Bills tabled and had them passed, including the Mizoram Youth Commission Bill, 2008, the Mizoram Organic Farming (Amendment) Bill, 2008, the Aizawl Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2008 and the Mizoram Transparency in Public Procurement Bill, 2008 among others.

Seven of the 12 bills were assented to by the Governor.

The House admitted 563 of the 610 starred questions entered and 161 of the 187 unstarred questions entered.

The Budget Session commenced on March 11 with the Governor's address and an obituary for late House members - former minister R Thangliana and former MLA K Zahungliana on the next day.

Of the 48 private members' resolutions, 40 were passed.

The Assembly Secretariat said the state government failed to submit its action report on the private members' resolutions to the Secretariat.

Five reports were presented in the House which included Report of Advisory Committee, Second Report of Subject Committee-III, Fourth Report of Subject Committee-I, 2007-2008, 13th Report of Subject Committee-V and First Report of Ethics Committee.

As many as 21 papers were laid in the table during the Session.

The House also witnessed four Special Mentions, two from Andrew Lalherliana (ZN) and one each from R Lalzirliana (Congress) and H Rohluna (Congress).
