Last date for comments on Cable TV restructuring extended to Apr 15

New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) has decided to extend the date for submission of written comments of all stakeholders on its consultation paper on 'Restructuring of Cable TV Services'.

The consultation paper had been issued on March 4 and written comments of stakeholders were required to be submitted by today.

Representations from some stakeholders had been received requesting an extension of last date for submitting written comments, in view of which the date has been extended to April 15, TRAI said here today.

The consultation paper covered issues like need of change in the regulatory framework to take care of technological advancement, convergence, etc. for effective regulation of Cable TV Industry, transparency in registration process of cable TV operator, adequate monitoring to ensure better cable TV services and provision of Appellate Authority, mechanism for effective consumer grievances redressal, amendment in the Cable Act/Cable Rules and need for different regulatory framework for MSOs, etc.
