Konkan Railway floats 'Global Expression of Interest' for sky bus
Mumbai, Apr 2 (UNI) Konkan Railway has floated 'Global Expression of Interest' to identify potential allies for strategic alliance and commercial optimisation of its patented transportation technology, the Sky Bus Metro.
Konkan Railway, in a release here today, said it wanted to engage reputted consultants to enable it to commercially implement its innovative urban transportation technology that would show light at the end of the tunnel for harassed urban commuters.
'Sky Bus Metro' is the total logistics solution, developed and patented by Konkan Railway, using proven engineering components for offering an attractive solution for urban transportation problems.
It was an improvement on existing rail-based systems, safe and cost effective, at the same time having comparable capacity. The Sky Bus Metro costs significantly lower than Underground Metro.
Unlike other transportation technologies that require significant rehabilitation and urban land, the Sky Bus Metro could create space and provide comfortable air-conditioned travel at economical rates.
Constructing a full-scale prototype and a 1.6 km Test Track at Madgaon and Goa, Konkan Railway had already successfully demonstrated the system upto a speed of 75 kmph to prove the technology. The Test Track was meant to be a Centre of Excellence for fine-tuning the parameters of the technology for optimising.
