Engineers to suspend work from tomorrow, stage protest

Imphal, Apr 2 (UNI)Employees of the PWD have decided to abstain from duty tomorrow onwards until the culprits responsible for the killing of Assistant Engineer of PWD K Nabachandra were punished.

The assistant engineer was suspected to have been killed by militants on Monday.

PWD Chief Engineer G Tonsana Sharma said the employees of the department condoled the death. The meeting also decided that all the employees will abstain from duty on April 3.

The PWD engineers have also appealed to the other engineering departments to extend their solidarity to the protest, said the Chief Engineer. The engineers also staged a sit-in-protest today in front of the PWD office at Imphal.
