Don't over-react on Tikait issue, Congress tells Mayawati
New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) The Congress today said the action of the Uttar Pradesh government against Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Mahendra Singh Tikait was a "clear case of over-reaction".
AICC Spokesman Manish Tewari told mediapersons that tension had been created by the government in Mr Tikait's Sisauli village, instead of allowing the law to take its own course.
Mr Tewari, however, termed as unfortunate the objectionable remarks allegedly made by Mr Tikait against UP Chief Minister Mayawati.
"He (Mr Tikait) should not have used a language which is unparliamentary," Mr Tewari said.
Mr Tikait was charged with using objectionable languge against Ms Mayawati in a rally in Bijnor on March 30.
