Demand of Chhattigarh's millet abroad
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 2 (UNI) In view of increasing demand of highly nutrients rich millet in the west, peasants in Chhattisgarh's tribal-dominated Bastar division are motivated to adopt organic farming of Kodo, Sawa, Kutaki and Ragi.
Agriculture Department sources said today trade representatives from Europe, America and South Africa had shown interest to import millets at the International Trade Market Expo-2008 held in Mumbai last month.
A trade delegation from Romania had offered a proposal to extent its assistance in processing of millets.
Keeping in view the demand for millets the farmers of Bastar division would be trained to cultivate the crop through organic farming. A 10-day training camp and a workshop have been proposed and information about organic certification would also be provided to farmers.
